A floating markdown editor for macOS that lets you capture thoughts, take YouTube notes, transcribe meetings locally, and work with your Obsidian vault.
Mote is a floating markdown editor for macOS designed to stay out of your way while keeping your notes always within reach. With a quick keyboard shortcut, Mote surfaces above any app so you can capture thoughts, transcribe meetings locally, or dive into your Obsidian vault without losing focus. The editor renders markdown inline as you type, supports math evaluation, Vim mode, and pastes text as clean markdown. A built-in terminal panel lets you run Claude Code or any CLI tool without switching windows. Mote also syncs with YouTube playback for timestamped notes and keeps all transcriptions on-device. Available as a one-time purchase at $18.99.
